Massive Attack's Robert Del Naja raises £100,000 for food banks

Massive Attack frontman Robert Del Naja has raised over £100,000 for Bristol Food Union, a UK group working during the COVID pandemic.

Del Naja (aka 3D), a former graffiti artist, held an online 10-day fire-sale of his ‘Protection’ prints in support of frontline workers and at-risk groups in his home town of Bristol. Proceeds went towards the ‘Feed the Frontline’ intervention.

Bristol Food Union have helped to deliver more than 7,000 meals to communities and NHS services since April. Their website reads, "We wanted to make sure that vulnerable communities struggling to access good food, along with all frontline workers delivering long and difficult hours across the NHS, didn’t have to worry about cooking healthy, nutritious meals for themselves or their families." BFU have also donated chefs and kitchen staff to the Caring in Bristol ‘Cheers Drive’ initiative, which has produced 35,000 meals for Bristol’s homeless.

Massive Attack and Del Naja have a long history of involvement in social awareness campaigns, recently calling for further and sustained government support as the COVID-19 lockdown continues. Del Naja is also working with Hack The Pandemic to print Anti-microbial nanocomposite 3D-masks.
